Responsibilities

After more than three years as a lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia Sciences – Souq Al-Jumah, and after serving as Head of the Quality and Performance Department in 2021-2022, Dr. Al-Tahir Musallim, a faculty member, now works full-time as an Assistant Professor at the same faculty. He currently heads the Department of Fundamentals of Religion, supervises the graduation projects of fourth-year students, and works as a researcher and lecturer in Sharia and linguistic sciences. He has published regularly in international and local journals, is a member of the faculty’s journal, and served on the review committee for the conference “Contemporary Atheism: Causes and Ways to Confront It,” December 2022. He is also a member of the faculty council.

Like his colleagues, he currently delivers occasional lectures on Sharia and cultural topics organized by the Research and Consulting Department at the faculty. Among the most prominent of these lectures are: The discussion focused on the methodologies of some Quranic commentators. Dr. Taher Musallam, a faculty member, has combined teaching and scientific research for many years, in addition to heading two major departments within the college, participating in the Scientific Week, and serving on research and conference judging committees.

Professional Career

Before joining the University of Tripoli, Dr. Taher Musallam graduated from Abu Dharr Al-Ghafari High School for Islamic Sciences in 2000, as part of its first graduating class. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tripoli, Faculty of Arts, graduating in 2004. He then continued his studies in Malaysia, completing his Master’s degree at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia in 2011. He then continued his studies and began his doctoral studies. Year: 2012. He received his certificate in 2018. Following this, he worked at the Libyan School, teaching Arabic and Islamic Studies at Al-Manahil Al-Zakhira School in Oya, Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia, for the 2017-2018 academic year, covering grades 1-9.

Dr. Al-Taher Musallam has worked on numerous research projects and participated in several conferences. Among his most notable publications are: a peer-reviewed article in Al-Tibyan Journal, Faculty of Arts, University of Tripoli, Libya, Issue 14, titled: “Muhammad ibn Abi Zamanin al-Andalusi al-Maliki (d. 399 AH) and His Methodology in His Book: Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Aziz,” September 2022; a peer-reviewed article in Al-Rayhan Journal (RJSP), Turkey, Issue 26, titled: “Muhammad ibn Abi Zamanin al-Andalusi al-Maliki (d. 399 AH) and His Hadith Methodology in His Book: Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Aziz,” August 2022; a peer-reviewed article in the Comprehensive Electronic Journal (MECSJ), Jordan, Issue 51, titled: “Prophetic Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an: Between Quantity and Quality,” July 2022; and a peer-reviewed article in the Arab Journal for Scientific Publishing (AJSP), Jordan, Issue 2. The fortieth, entitled: “Minor Sodomy; A Critical Hadith Study,” April 2022, and the publication of a peer-reviewed research paper in Al-Qanater Journal, a global journal of Islamic studies, entitled: “The Most Important Sharia Obligations and Scholarly Necessities in the Verification and Study of Hadith Manuscripts,” Issue 7, No. 2, 2017. He also participated in the First International Manuscripts Conference at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia in 2016, with a paper entitled: “The Most Important Sharia Obligations and Scholarly Necessities in the Study and Verification of Hadith Manuscripts,” and in the International Fatwa Conference at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia in 2016, with a paper entitled: “Jurisprudential Opinions on the Abrogation of the Qur’an by the Prophetic Sunnah.” Furthermore, he published a peer-reviewed research paper in the Journal of Sharia Research and Studies in Egypt, Issue 26, entitled: “Abd al-Rahman al-Tha’alibi and His Methodology in His Book Riyad al-Uns fi ‘Ilm al-Raqa’iq wa Siyar Ahl al-Haqa’iq,” in 2014.

External Activities

Throughout his student years, until his appointment at the University of Tripoli, Dr. Taher Musallam engaged in numerous educational activities. His accomplishments include, but are not limited to: teaching the Holy Quran at Al-Sharif Mosque from 2000 to 2006; serving as a judge in the Quranic competition held by the University of Tripoli, Libya, in April 2022; participating in an online workshop via Zoom, titled “Islamic Studies and Their Role in Regulating the Transition to Digital Life in Light of Global Health Crises,” broadcast from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, on May 11, 2021; obtaining a training certificate for preparing auditors according to quality assurance and accreditation standards, issued by the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions, from December 23 to 30, 2020, comprising 25 training hours; being selected as a judge in the “Recite” competition held by the Libyan School Administration in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2018; and receiving certification in listening to and reciting the books “Sincerity and Intention” and “Condemnation of Injustice” by Ibn… A license to transmit the works of Ibn Abi al-Dunya, granted by the esteemed scholar, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Rahman Khalaf, at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia, on 19 Jumada al-Ula 1439 AH (corresponding to February 4, 2018 CE). Also granted was a license to transmit the works of Ibn Abi al-Dunya, “Al-Layali wal-Ayyam” and “Al-Umr wal-Shayb,” granted by the same scholar, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Rahman Khalaf, at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia, on 17 Jumada al-Akhirah 1439 AH (corresponding to March 4, 2018 CE). Another license to transmit the works of Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Qastalani, “Irshad al-Sari li Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari,” granted by the same scholar, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Rahman Khalaf, at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia, on 8 Sha’ban 1437 AH (corresponding to May 24, 2017 CE). Finally, a license to transmit the works of Ibn Abi al-Dunya, “Husn al-Zann bi-Allah Ta’ala,” granted by the same scholar, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Rahman Khalaf, at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia, on 19 Dhu Hajjah/ 1438 AH, corresponding to 19/9/2017 CE, and an authorization to listen to and recite my books: Contentment with God’s Decree and Submission to His Command, and The Book of Certainty, by Ibn Abi al-Dunya, by the authorizing Sheikh, Professor Dr. Najm Abdul Rahman Khalaf, at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia, 17/ Muharram/ 1439 AH, corresponding to 8/1
