Responsibilities

After more than two years as an Assistant Professor at the College of Sharia Sciences – Souq Al Jumaa, Prof. Lotfi Milad Areibi has been serving full-time as an Assistant Professor at the same college since 2021. He supervises and evaluates final-year students’ graduation projects, and works as a researcher and instructor in Islamic sciences. He was also appointed as a member of the scientific committee for the conference “Contemporary Atheism: Causes and Ways of Confrontation” in December 2022.

Currently, like his colleagues, he delivers regular lectures on Sharia and culture organized by the College’s Research and Consulting Department.

In 2023, he was assigned the role of Curriculum Coordinator for the Sharia Department at the same college.

Career Path

Before joining the University of Tripoli in 2021, Prof. Lotfi Areibi completed his education as follows:

  • Graduated from Al-Duqali Institute of Islamic Sciences in Misrata in 2005/2006.
  • Earned a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Sharia Sciences in Misrata, affiliated with Al-Asmarah University, in 2010/2011.
  • Completed his Master’s degree at Al-Murqab University, Department of Islamic Studies.

Research Interests

Prof. Lotfi has authored several scholarly and non-scholarly works in the field of Islamic sciences. Notably, he participated in the conference “Contemporary Atheism: Causes and Ways of Confrontation” at the College of Sharia Sciences – Souq Al Jumaa, presenting a research paper entitled:

“The Impact of Atheistic Theorization on Those Claiming the Renewal of Islamic Fiqh: The Feminist Movement as a Model.”

Extracurricular Activities

Before his appointment as a faculty member at the College of Sharia Sciences – Souq Al Jumaa, Prof. Lotfi taught Islamic education and Arabic language to elementary and middle school students at several Libyan schools between 2016 and 2018.

He also served as a mosque preacher for more than three non-consecutive years in Misrata and continues to volunteer as a preacher in several Misrata mosques since 2021.
